My passion is photography, in terms of practice, histories and critical commentaries (have a look at my companion site: Writing With Light). I love taking and making shots, and I regularly shoot performances, and occasionally weddings and events. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mk III, and a range of lenses. My digital darkroom consists of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.I make graphics for the production marketing in the Department of Performing Arts.
Some of my work is available in Flickr: my personal site is Lake Crimson, which hosts a range of work from Photoshop art photography to event documentation, and I also curate and contribute to the flickr site, Performing Arts, Edge Hill University, which features production photography of BA, MA and PhD student performances.
My current obsession is vintage photography from the turn of the century depicting music hall stars, and the cartes-de-visite portraits of newly enlisted soldiers into the ranks of the armies heading into the trenches of the First World War. These, I digitise, restore and animate.
